The sounds of charging horses, rattling sabers and pistols firing returned to the parade grounds at Historic Fort Reno Wednesday as the 2021 U.S. Cavalry Association's Bivouac and National Competition returned.

The four-day event runs through Saturday, with daily events starting at 9 a.m.

“It’s good to be back,” said U.S. Cavalry Association President Bill Tempero.

The event was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first time the competition was not held since the association moved its national headquarters to Fort Reno.

“It’s a story set in modern times and it’s basically an ex-adventurer who is a mom to a teenage boy. The boy comes across some clues in the family’s attic that relates to their past and the connection to Tom Sawyer,” said Zeus Zamani, the film's producer.
