Only voters that live in Ward 2 will be voting in Tuesday’s El Reno city council race, said Wanda Armold, Canadian County Election Board secretary.
“Most precincts contain more than one ward and only those voters that are registered at an address within the geographical boundaries of Ward 2 will be eligible to vote on Nov. 9,” Armold said by email.
The 10th Annual Veterans Day Parade and Program will be this Sunday, Nov. 7 in downtown El Reno.
Organized by the El Reno Chamber of Commerce, the afternoon will begin with the parade at 3 p.m.
Chamber Executive Director Karen Nance said more than 40 entries are expected to participate, coming from throughout Canadian County. The highlight of the day will be recognizing area veterans, including those named this yearvs Veterans of the Year.
That list includes Wayne Dickerson, Fred Garrett, Stan Higgins, Archie Jones, Robert and Cliffornia Rolle and Kendall Watson.

Canadian County’s new natural hazard mitigation plan is now in effect.
Commissioners approved a resolution finalizing the document.
The Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires Canadian County to update the plan every five years, so its communities remain eligible for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) non-emergency, hazard mitigation grants.
Commissioners in late July approved the county’s revised hazard mitigation plan – designed to reduce loss of life and property before a disaster occurs.
