Carolyn Leck will officially retire and step down as Canadian County treasurer June 30.
Leck will leave office early, citing health issues. She will be replaced by Jay Arnold, who will be sworn into office July 1.
It will mean the end of an era for the longtime county treasurer, who has served in that capacity for almost 12 years – leading an office she has worked in for 28 years.
El Reno schools held a free swim day at the city pool last week.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Reps. Kevin McDugle, R-Broken Arrow, and Justin Humphrey, R-Lane, held a press conference responding to findings from a third party investigation regarding the case of death row inmate Richard Glossip.
The investigation, conducted on a pro-bono basis in part due to the urging of multiple legislators to look into the case, was undertaken by a 30-lawyer team from the Reed Smith Law Firm, assisted by Crowe & Dunlevy of Oklahoma.
Almost $70 million in pandemic relief projects now await approval by Gov. Kevin Stitt as the Oklahoma Legislature continued work Wednesday on a special session on the state’s share of $1.87 billion under the federal American Rescue Plan Act.
The House approved a package of seven bills on Wednesday, two days after the Senate voted on the projects involving nonprofit relief, water projects, nursing education and optometry programs.

El Reno police have received reports, periodically, of Canada geese and ducks being injured by “blowgun-style” darts.
The majority of the reports have focused on the Legion Park area. And now, a reward is being offered for information that could help find those responsible for the attacks.
Commissioners last week took what could be another step in a possible relocation of the Canadian County Health Department.
The board met in executive session to discuss “the purchase of real property for use as a site for the county health department.”
After moving into public view, Commissioners David Anderson, Jack Stewart and Marc Hader voted to allow Anderson – as board of commissioners chairman - to “move forward with tasks discussed in executive session.”
Those wanting to vote early prior to the June 28 primary election will cast their vote at a new location.
The Canadian County Election Board is moving early voting to the former DHS building at 314 W. Rogers.
The building is just to the north of the U.S. Post Office and west of the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office.
County election board secretary Wanda Armold said early voting is open to all voters.
“You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early,” Armold said.
With a unanimous no, members of the El Reno City Council denied a proposed cell tower after residents of the neighborhood where it was planned argued against it.
Tillman Infrastructure LLC had sought a conditional use permit to build the cell tower at 3009 Stewart Ave. The property is just south of SW 27th Street and east of Choctaw.
