ER Class of ’56 to gather for burgers

Body

El Reno High School Class of 1956 will meet at 10:20 a.m. Sept. 10 in the pavilion across from Etta Dale Junior High for visiting and fried onion hamburgers. All are welcome to join.

Class members will also have a float in the EHS homecoming parade.

Operation Christmas Child volunteers to host Project Leader Workshop

Operation Christmas Child volunteers will host a Project Leader Workshop on Saturday, Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Stable Rock Baptist Church, 1301 Cemetery Road, Yukon.

The workshop is open to anyone interested in packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

The Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child collects shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items, and delivers them to children in need around the world.

Canadian Valley Art Guild to resume demonstration meetings in September with guest artist Dixon

Canadian Valley Art Guild will be resuming artist demonstration meetings.

September guest artist Alyona Korstina Dixon will conduct a demonstration in wool painting.

The event is set for Thursday, Sept. 9 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 400 Elm in Yukon. The public is invited to attend.

Canadian Valley Art Guild’s purpose is to promote community awareness of the visual fine arts and to aid artists in their endeavors.

Lamplighters OHCE holds gathering

Lamplighters OHCE Chapter of Canadian County met recently at a local church with Joan Herr calling the meeting to order.

Herr led in honoring the memory of Louise Wallace, longtime member and chapter secretary.

Janice Taylor led the flag salute, with Carol Stine offering devotionals titled “Raised Scars.”

Maxine Little read minutes of the previous meeting, while Patricia Morrison gave the treasury report.

Stine read Article 4 of the OHCE Constitution, while Taylor will cover Article 5 at next month’s meeting.

El Reno Public Schools Superintendent Craig McVay uses crayons to make a drawing along with Jovanni and Benjamin Quiroz.

The siblings were waiting for their parent to finish enrolling them in school. El Reno Public Schools began classes on Thursday for the 2021-22 school term.

ER Wranglers finalize plans

The El Reno Wranglers met recently for their monthly meeting at the 4-H building.

The meeting was opened by president Jimmy Johnston, with Gary Sorrells leading in prayer. There were 22 members present.

The Wranglers made final plans for the upcoming annual rodeo set for Aug. 27 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the new Canadian County fairgrounds facility.

Plans for the annual county horse show were also finalized, to be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 28 at the new fairgrounds complex.

Next Wranglers meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 2 at the 4-H building.

Fresh Anointing to hold workshop

Body

Fresh Anointing of El Reno will host a Praise and Worship Jam Session/Workshop on Saturday, Aug. 28 beginning at 11 a.m. The church is located at 1300 W. Watts.

The event is free to all and will include guests from surrounding cities.

The Fresh Anointing Praise Team will serve barbecue as a fundraiser.
