In one of our annual traditions, the El Reno Tribune set out to help old St. Nick with gathering wish lists from area children. Here are the letters we received:

El Reno Now donation

Body

City Attorney Roger Rinehart, center, accepts a donation from Mayor Matt White and School Superintendent Craig McVay at the conclusion of last week’s El Reno Now breakfast. Those attending the event chipped in to raise more than $400 for El Reno Blessing Baskets.

Each month funds from the El Reno Now event are donated to either Blessing Baskets, The Lord’s Harvest, Mobile Meals or the El Reno Public Schools Foundation.

Lamplighters OHCE gather at local church

Body

Lamplighters chapter of OHCE Canadian County met recently at a local church, with Joan Herr calling the meeting to order and offering opening prayer.

Carol Stine led the flag salute and shared devotionals titled “Ups and Downs.”

Roll call was answered with naming a favorite holiday tradition, with members agreeing that “being with family” was the favorite.

Maxine Little read minutes of the previous meeting, with Patricia Morrison giving the treasury report.

Graves honored for 25 years

Body

El Reno fireman Capt. Gregory Graves accepts a certificate from Mike Fina, executive director of the Oklahoma Municipal League, for having served the citizens of El Reno for 25 years.

Capt. Alan Willcutt was also recognized for 27 years of firefighting service, with 20 of those coming in El Reno. Willcutt did not attend the council meeting.
