El Reno alums follow in family footsteps to become fourth-generation OU grads

Dillon Goddard and Nicholas Rinehart, 2016 El Reno High School graduates, followed in the footsteps of their family members to the University of Oklahoma.

Four generations of footsteps.

Both recently graduated from OU.

Goddard’s OU graduates are from his mother’s side of the family, while Rinehart’s come from both his father and mother’s side.

Masons donate to Mobile Meals

Body

El Reno Masons have helped support Mobile Meals for several years by asking that at least two members of the Lodge make themselves available for meal delivery.

Member Ian King accepted that mission and has had a few other members help over the years.

El Reno Masonic Lodge was able to budget a donation this year as well and it was presented to Norman Sheridan, El Reno Mobile Meals director.

El Reno Masonic Lodge’s goals are to find the needs of the community and to help address them.

The May Lion and Lioness honorees are Jake Henrichs and Jaycee Taylor.

Area students among those listed on SWOSU rolls

The President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon have been announced for the 2023 spring semester.

To qualify for the President’s Honor Roll, an undergraduate student must earn all A’s in 12 or more hours during a semester.

Listed on the Dean’s Honor Roll are those completing 12 semester hours with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher with no grade lower than a C.

County Lamplighters gather at local church

Lamplighters OHCE of Canadian County met recently at Mt. Zion Methodist Church.

Carol Stine opened the meeting, with Ann Niemann leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Janice Taylor read a devotional titled “The Best Day of My Life.”

Roll call was answered by everyone giving their best grocery shopping tips. Maxine Little read minutes of the previous meeting, while Patricia Morrison gave the treasury report.

Stine presented the leader lesson on “Healthy Eating with Rising Food Prices.”

Underwood chapter holds monthly lunch

The Underwood chapter of Oklahoma Home and Community Education met recently for lunch at a local restaurant with Delpha Miklautsch serving as hostess.

She presented the lesson on “Eating Healthy with Rising Prices.”

Members shared their favorite shopping tips and weekly menu planners and organized grocery lists were distributed.

Three members attended the county commissioners meeting in which May 7-13 was proclaimed OHCE Week by the county officials. Commissioners were gifted with homemade goodies made by Miklautsch, Vicki Duncan and Janan Fletcher.
