Some El Reno youngsters were in the giving spirit last week, setting up a lemonade stand and offering their product for free.
Emmie Evans, Teagan Finnigan, Cheyenne Denwalt and Jentri Denwalt were accepting donations and said they planned to use the donated funds to purchase snacks to give to nurses who work at local nursing homes.
OKARCHE – More than $500,000 was raised for the Center of Family Love during a live stream telethon that was held in place of the nonprofit’s usual gala, an event that for the past two years delivered more than $1 million to help support the home for adults living with intellectual and physical disabilities.
The live stream event was held Saturday night and made history on several fronts.
Summer solstice arrived last Saturday ushering in summer amid global celebrations with a rare eclipse occurring in the Southern Hemisphere. The longest day of the year, solstice occurs when both sunrise and sunset occur respectively at the earliest and the latest times during the year.

Larry and Connie Hodges will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
Larry Hodges and Connie Coggins were married July 1, 1960, at First Baptist Church of Blanchard.
Larry and Connie have traveled to almost every state and many places in Europe, England, Ireland and Mexico.
They have river rafted and hiked in Colorado and enjoyed water-skiing and snow-skiing and flying in a helicopter that landed on a glacier in Alaska.
They also love to cruise with friends, with the Panama Canal as one of their favorite destinations.
Randy and Terri Hurst of El Reno are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple was married June 27, 1970, in Perryton, Texas.
Terri has been employed for the past 38 years at Canadian Valley as pharmacist and Naturopathy Medicine Practitioner.
Hurst is presently owner of Midwest Music Company in Weatherford and Enid after retiring after 30 years of education, finishing as the high school bandmaster for El Reno High School for 17 years.

The University of Central Oklahoma recently announced honor rolls for the spring 2020 semester. To be recognized on the President’s Honor Roll, a student must have achieved a 4.0 GPA, with those named to the Dean’s Honor Roll earning a 3.5 GPA or better for the semester.
Spring semester honor rolls at Northwestern Oklahoma State University have been announced.
Those on the President’s Honor Roll earned all A’s or a 4.0 grade point average.
Those on the Vice President’s Honor Roll had grade point averages of 3.5 or better.
Among those local students listed on the President’s Honor Roll are Austin Luker of El Reno and Abby Detar of Piedmont. Named to the Vice President’s Honor Roll is Kelsey Neal of Piedmont.
Listed on the President’s Honorable Mention are Kaslin Baros of Calumet and Summer Thiele of Piedmont.
The EHS Art Club once again earned Best of Show in the Ribbon Recycle Challenge for the fourth time in six years. This year, graduate Taryn Wahweah was chosen as the Judges Choice Award Winner with her macro photography. This is one of the highest individual awards at the state fair. Michelle Obert is the EHS art teacher and Marci Underwood is the sponsor.
Oklahoma State University 2020 spring semester honor rolls have been announced, with full-time undergraduate students completing 12 or more hours with a grade point average of 4.00 recognized on the President’s Honor Roll, and students with a grade point average of 3.50 or higher with no grade below a C earning placement on the Dean’s Honor Roll.
