Despite the second day of the 2021 NJCAA Women’s Golf Championships being delayed a day due to rain, the story line has become pretty clear – everyone is chasing defending champ Seminole State.

The Florida-based school, winner of two national titles, holds a 28-stroke lead over Daytona State College after 36 holes – 591-619.

Daytona, a 10-time winner and champ from 2016 until being dethroned by the Raiders in 2019, holds a 31-stroke lead over Ranger (Texas) Junior College, which was third with a 656 tally.

Locked out of state

Body

El Reno High School’s 2021 track season came to a close recently at the Class 5A West Regional hosted in Altus, with no thinclads advancing to the state track and field championships.

The El Reno girls did have one runner get close to a state ticket as Bailey Denwalt ran the 400-meter dash in one minute and 7.91 seconds. The effort netted her a ninth-place finish and her time was less than two seconds short of earning a pass to state as an additional qualifier.

The top three finishers in each regional race earn a trip to state.
