It’s Blue and Gold sausage season! Mine was delivered just last night by Paula Cooper, owner of Cocobella’s Gifts, downtown El Reno.
She was helping her grandson, Bryson Cooper make his deliveries. He sold a lot, so he needed the help! Bryson is a freshman at Calumet High School.
Voters in Canadian County who want absentee ballots mailed to them for the Nov. 5 General Election as well as the City of El Reno Ward 1, City of El Reno OG&E Franchise and City of Yukon Charter Changes should apply now, said county election board secretary Allen Arnold.
Absentee ballots are available to all registered voters, provided they are eligible to vote in the election requested. No excuse is needed to vote by absentee ballot.

When Abner Doubleday created baseball in the mid-1800s, it’s safe to say he never imagined the sport evolving to the point where electronic communication devices are being placed in catcher’s masks, let alone infielders wearing watches that tell them in real time what pitches are being called from the dugout and what defensive schemes to adjust to according to those pitches.
Yet those are just some of the devices being tested in college ranks as well as Major League Baseball.
The process has now made its way, in limited form, down to the high school ranks.
The comforts of home brought little relief for El Reno High School’s volleyball team in the Indians effort to break free from a recent losing streak.
Playing at Jenks Simmons Field House for the first time in 19 days, El Reno dropped a 3-0 match to Class 4A’s seventh-ranked Cache by scores of 25-10/25-23/25-19.
El Reno, which led the second game 22-20, dropped to 10-15 on the season with its fourth-straight loss and sixth out of the last seven matches.
MIDWEST CITY – El Reno High School’s fast-pitch softball team will be on the road for the upcoming Class 5A regional playoffs after dropping its final two games of the district race.
Needing a win over Carl Albert to get into a possible tie for second place and the right to host a home regional, El Reno was blanked by the Titans 10-0 to lose the season series with its arch-rival.
It was the second straight shutout loss for the Indians, both by run-rule, to close out the District 5A-2 race with a 7-5 record. El Reno dropped to 12-10 for the season.
Calumet High School’s baseball team had its five-game win streak snapped last week in the finals of the Ripley Invitational, losing 9-8 to Class A’s 10th- ranked Navajo.
The Chieftains had the tying run, Carson Cooper, at third base in the bottom of the seventh inning via a single and two sacrifice grounders. However, Cooper was left stranded on a fly ball to center field.
UNION CITY – Struggling to break free from the loss column, Union City High School’s fast-pitch softball team closed out the regular season with an 8-1 setback to Class B’s fourth-ranked Lookeba-Sickles.
The loss was the second in a row for the Tigers and three out of the last four games. The others losses were to Little Axe (9-5) and Class B’s 13th-ranked Fort Cobb/Broxton (8-3).
The win came over Empire (12-3), leaving Union City with a 16-12 overall record.
