Miscues hamper Indians in final home games

Body

Unforced errors continue to plague El Reno High School’s fast-pitch softball team as the Indians wrapped up their home schedule with back-to-back losses to finish up the home portion of their 2024 schedule.

The Indians dropped an 8-1 game to Weatherford, losing the season series to the Eagles, before having a rally cut short in an 8-6 loss to Bridge Creek.

El Reno slipped to 13-12 on the season with the setbacks and will hit the road for the last two games before opening the Class 5A playoffs.

It was a personal best day at two different meets for El Reno High School’s cross country team, including what is believed to be a school-record showing by Ethan Brooks.

Running in the prestigious 35th Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., Brooks ran the course at Agri Park in 16 minutes, 26 seconds to set what is thought to be the fastest 5-kilometer (3.1 mile) time in El Reno school history.

Brooks was one of 83 freshmen in the field of 731 runners for the multi-day Boys “El Caliente” Division.
