Our sweet mama, wife and Meme was called home on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City to join her Lord and Savior, beloved son and parents.

Linda Lee Kremeier was born Jan. 4, 1949, to Lorenz and Betty (Espolt) Ahlden at Okarche Hospital.

She was the oldest of four children, and growing up she helped with the farming and dairy operation her family owned east of Okarche.

Linda graduated from Okarche High School in 1967. She married Donovan Kremeier on Dec. 28, 1968, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okarche.

Lamplighters OHCE gather at local church

Lamplighters OHCE of Canadian County met recently at a local church.

Joan Herr called the meeting to order and offered opening prayer.

Carol Stine led the flag salute and presented a devotional titled “Floating in Grace.”

Maxine Little read minutes from the last meeting, with Patricia Morrison giving the treasury report.

A thank-you card was read from the sheriff’s department for cookies the members recently furnished.

Herr presented the leader lesson on “Growing Tomatoes in the Home Garden.”

Eldon “Sonny” LeBleu

Funeral services for Eldon A. LeBleu will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Deacon Lloyd Menz officiating. Burial will follow at the El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Sonny died March 21, 2022, at River Oaks Skilled Nursing Center in El Reno. He was born Nov. 20, 1949, in Watonga and came to El Reno in 1961 with his family. He was retired from the Bureau of Prisons and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. His hobbies were hunting quail and deer and collecting guns.

Paul Hacker

Memorial services for Paul Eugene Hacker of Mustang will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Church of the Nazarene in Mustang with Rev. Larry Hunter officiating.

Paul passed away March 17, 2022, in Yukon. He was born Jan. 22, 1964, in Oklahoma City. He was raised in the Mustang area, graduating from Mustang High School in 1982. He later completed auto body classes at the Canadian Valley Vo-Tech and was state certified as a master welder.

Paul was part owner and operator of H and H Welding in Mustang, then later worked for HK and S Iron in Wheatland.

Working to protect women’s sports

Every March, America recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of women throughout history.

Among these figures are pioneers, scientists, politicians, and often athletes. Now, it seems our country is straying from this ideal.

Women cannot make history in sports if they’re not the ones in the arena.

“Every event that transgender athletes competed in was one spot taken away from biological females throughout the meet,” Reka Gyorgy, collegiate swimmer from Virginia Tech, recently wrote in a letter to the NCAA.

Funeral services for Melanie Morlan were held Friday, March 25 at the Concho Emergency Response Center under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Melanie died March 20, 2022, at the age of 40 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Albert Winslow Walker Jr.

Albert Winslow “Al” Walker Jr., 83, said goodbye to life at 4:19 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. He was in his beloved home, a few days shy of his 84th birthday. Just weeks before that, he had made it very clear to his caregiver and to his TV (that he pushed over) that he was to pass from the comforts of his home and not with hospice.

For those that didn’t know him well, Albert Winslow Walker Jr. was born March 19, 1938, in Oklahoma City, and he was the son of the late Albert Woodrow Walker and Myrtle Rose Coffey Walker.

Phyllis Jean Cecil

Phyllis Jean (Haworth) Cecil died Feb. 26, 2022, in Corn, Oklahoma, with her children by her side.

She was 81.

She is survived by four children, Sherri Zongker, Robin Raso, Don H. Cecil Jr. and Rosalind (Rozi) Gear; two sisters, Marjorie Mowery and Sally Vahle; and nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Don Hubert Cecil, and a brother, Dwayne, preceded her in death.
