Body After a 21-year hiatus from having a player elevated to elite status with a spot on the Oklahoma Coaches Association’s All-State Volleyball Team, El Reno High School has been honored yet again after voting from state coaches.

Body El Reno High School’s softball team reached the regional finals this season with only two starting seniors on the roster, a feat which was rewarded with four players being named to the 2020 All-District 5A-1 team.

Body Memorial service for Gerald “Beaver” Ray Duncan will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 7, 2020, at the El Reno Cemetery. Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Hap; his brother, Bobby; and his precious sister, Stephanie Lynn “Peaches.

Body Patty Ruth Young, 86, of El Reno died Oct. 11, 2020, at Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon. There will be a private graveside service at the Chilhowee Cemetery in Chilhowee, Mo. Local arrangements are under the direction of Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.

Body Despite the cold, El Reno High School’s cheer squad held a pre-game show before the Indians game with Ardmore. The dancers included the young girls from the recent EHS Cheer Clinic. At halftime, El Reno’s youth cheerleaders also performed a routine.

Body City of El Reno street crews sanded roadways Monday night into Tuesday as Mother Nature pummeled much of the state with a combination of rain, sleet and ice. City Manager Matt Sandidge said main roads were sanded Monday night.

Body El Reno School Superintendent Craig McVay will join Mayor Matt White Thursday afternoon for El Reno Live. The pair created El Reno Now, a monthly gathering, that was interrupted by COVID-19.

Body After emerging unscathed through a run of games against the other four teams in the top half of the District 5A-1 standings, El Reno High School’s football team is now the odds-on favorite to claim the league championship.

Body Voters will go to the polls for the Nov. 3 General Election, City of El Reno Ward 1 Council Member Election and the City of Oklahoma City Special Election.
