Funeral services for Anita Renee Hunt of El Reno will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Cory Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Okarche under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Anita passed away Feb. 17, 2020, at her home. She was born May 20, 1960, in Enid and lived various places before moving to El Reno seven years ago. She was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary in the oil and gas industry and recently at Redlands Community College.

Renee was a member of the Catholic Church.

Carl Albert needs late free throws to fend off ER rally

MIDWEST CITY – Fourth-ranked Carl Albert knocked down four free throws in the final 34 seconds to hold off a feverish comeback attempt by El Reno High School’s girls basketball team.

The 60-55 loss to the Titans left El Reno, ranked No.8 in the same Class 5A poll, with a 12-10 overall record and closed out Suburban Conference action with a 6-5 mark.

Jennifer Douglas’ team is 4-3 in games counting toward the league standings.

MIDWEST CITY – While improving both its scoring and shooting percentage in the second half, El Reno High School’s boys basketball team could not overcome its own demons from the first two periods.

The Indians, ranked 13th in Class 5A, closed out Suburban Conference action with a 61-41 loss to third-ranked Carl Albert. The setback left El Reno with an 11-11 overall record and a 4-7 mark in league action.

The loss to the Titans counted toward the league title, leaving El Reno with a 3-4 record.
