Calumet takes over top spot; Union City strings together winning streak
Calumet High School’s baseball team is now the team to beat in Class B after the Chieftains took over the top spot in the second state rankings following a 3-0 start.
Cody Thiessen’s team remains unbeaten with a recent road win over Weatherford’s junior varsity (16-0), followed by an 8-2 win over Clinton in last week’s Calumet Festival.
Calumet went 23-of-52 (.442) from the plate for the two-game set, getting a double each from Carson Cooper, Brett Reed, Jackson Burns and Kaleb Thiessen.
