El Reno High School’s football team will close out the non-district portion of its schedule Friday night as the Indians travel down Interstate 40 to play the Weatherford Eagles. It’s the second game of a back-to-back road swing for El Reno, which played at Piedmont last week.

El Reno City Council will consider Tuesday evening issuing a special permit to the Southern Drag Boat Association for drag boat races to be held Sept. 25-27 at Lake El Reno. If approved, it will be the second such event on the lake this summer after July’s Smoke on the Water.

El Reno High School’s softball team honored its three senior members last week in a ceremony before the start of the home game with Lawton MacArthur. As tradition, El Reno also honored the three Highlander seniors on the visitors squad with flowers.

PIEDMONT – Facing a clock-milking Piedmont squad, El Reno High School's football team needed to convert its offensive possessions into points and get off the field on defense. The Indians did neither Friday night with any consistency.

Though splitting the first two matches of a three-date home stand, El Reno High School’s volleyball team continues to build on one of its best seasons under head coach Kristen Koehler. El Reno, ranked fourth in Class 5A, defeated Tecumseh in straight sets by scores of 26-24/25-15/25-9.

El Reno High School’s cross country team recently took part in the 2020 Watonga Invitational for the second meet of the season.

El Reno High School’s softball team had games with Carl Albert and Guthrie canceled by rain last week. The game with the Titans will be made up Sept. 24 in Midwest City. The Indians still remain a solid hitting team with a combined .366 team batting average.

Brayden Dennings threw a one-hit shutout as Union City High School’s baseball team won the 2020 Mulhall-Orlando Invitational with a three-game sweep. The shutout came in a 10-0 decision over Glencoe in the finals, on the heels of victories over Cimarron (15-3) and Shidler (6-1).

Fueled by 26 hits over a two-game span, Calumet High School’s softball team moved to 8-5 on the season with wins over Dover and Fargo. Calumet defeated the Longhorns 11-4 before logging a 4-3 win over Fargo, which sports players from Gage and Fort Supply.

With Chickasha bowing out of one of the oldest rivalries in the state, El Reno High School’s non-district football schedule will look a little different in 2020 – except for one mainstay. El Reno hits the road for the first time Friday night for a short hop up Northwest Expressway to play Piedmont.
