Body El Reno High School’s softball team capped off a tough run through the Bixby Invitational with an 8-7 win over Henryetta on a bases-loaded walk by Chenoa White. The free pass scored Iliana Ashford from third as the Indians went 2-3 in the tournament.

Body WEATHERFORD – Three interceptions by Weatherford's defense turned into 20 points as the Eagles scored six straight touchdowns en route to a 41-14 win over El Reno. The Indians wrapped up the non-district portion of their schedule with a 1-2 record after back to back road losses.

Body After matching home run shots in the first inning, Lawton MacArthur went on a 12-3 run to spoil senior night festivities for El Reno High School’s softball team. The Highlanders handed El Reno a 14-5 defeat as the Indians slipped to 6-9 on the season.

Body Union City High School’s baseball team extended its current win streak to nine games last week with a 14-1 road win over Ninnekah. The unranked Tigers improved to 12-2 on the fall season after logging 10 hits and six walks off the Owls pitching staff.

Body Calumet High School’s softball team continues to carry the hot bats after logging 32 hits in wins over Thomas/Fay-Custer and Waynoka. The Chieftains improved to 10-5 on the season with a 10-0 shutout of the Terriers and a 13-5 decision over Waynoka.

Body El Reno High School’s football team will close out the non-district portion of its schedule Friday night as the Indians travel down Interstate 40 to play the Weatherford Eagles. It’s the second game of a back-to-back road swing for El Reno, which played at Piedmont last week.

Drag boat racing returns

Body El Reno City Council will consider Tuesday evening issuing a special permit to the Southern Drag Boat Association for drag boat races to be held Sept. 25-27 at Lake El Reno. If approved, it will be the second such event on the lake this summer after July’s Smoke on the Water.
