Body Redlands Community College’s golf team opened up its fall schedule recently with a third-place finish in the Southwestern Christian University Invitational.

Body Guymon’s seventh-inning stretch ended up plucking two road wins off the victory tree from El Reno High School’s softball team last week in District 5A-2 action.

Body Delayed a week due to COVID-19 issues, El Reno High School’s volleyball team kicked off the home portion of its 2021 schedule with a 3-0 win over U.S. 81 rival Chickasha last week. The 25-17/25-13/25-15 win lifted the Class 5A’s 10th-ranked Indians to 9-5 on the season.

Body The Indians had to forfeit their second straight game this week with Weatherford due to COVID-19 exposure and quarantine stemming from the game with Cache.  

Body Union City High School’s softball team snapped a three-game slide last week with a 15-5 road win over Carnegie. The 10-run victory came on the heels of losses to Verden (12-6) and Class A’s top-ranked Binger-Oney (12-2) as the unranked Tigers improved to 11-8 on the season.

Body Doubles from Hayden Anderson, Wyatt Dean and Jaxon Olive sparked a 10-hit performance at the plate as Calumet High School’s baseball team snapped a two-game losing streak with an 11-1 win over Earlsboro.

Body Redlands Community College’s soccer team uncorked a season-high 21 shots but managed only one goal in a 3-1 road loss in Arkansas to National Park College. The setback left RCC with an 0-4 record for the season and in the NJCAA Region 2 standings.

Body The arrival of college football means it’s time to dust off the decoys for Oklahoma’s early teal and resident Canada goose hunting seasons. Both opportunities will kick off Saturday, Sept. 11.
