Memorial service for Carol Sue Brown Wall will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, May 14 at 1:30 p.m.

Sue was born Aug. 18, 1942, in Dalhart, Texas, and passed away April 22, 2022, in El Reno.

Sue loved to do all sorts of crafts and handiwork such as crocheting, knitting, sewing, embroidery and quilting. She also loved to travel with the RV Club as well as going on cruises.

Sue was also proud to be one of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a long full life in the El Reno community.

Funeral services for Joseph Charles (J.C.) Carroll were held Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Hinton with Rev. Keith Gillham and Rev. Steve Murray officiating.

Burial was in the Hinton Cemetery under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Hinton.

J.C. was born Dec. 16, 1931, to Joseph Patrick (Joe) and Ethel (Wilson) Carroll near Hinton. He attended and graduated from East Walnut School near Hinton.

After graduation, J.C. attended welding school.

Thurman Williams

Graveside services for Thurman Ray Williams of El Reno were held May 5 at the Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Ray passed away April 29, 2022. He was born Sept. 14, 1941, in Shawnee.

Ray is survived by his brother, Richard Williams of Yukon and sister, Barbara Kelley of Wichita, Kan.

Evelyn Elliott

Evelyn Watson Parker Elliott, loving mother, wife, Bami and aunt, passed away May 2, 2022. She was born in El Dorado, Ark., on Dec. 5, 1934, to parents, John A Watson and Frances Armintha Fletcher. She graduated from Norphlet High School in 1952.

After graduating high school, Evelyn married Sherald Parker and moved to Oklahoma City. Together they had two children, Tajuana in 1953 and Marc in 1956.

In 1969, Evelyn married Bill Elliott and became stepmother to his four children, Danny, Joyce, Charles and Pat. Together they had another son, Joshua in 1995.

Graveside services for Sam T. Crawford of El Reno will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 at Canadian Valley Cemetery in Calumet with Rev. Paul Roach officiating.

Mr. Crawford died May 3, 2022, at his home. He was born Dec. 24, 1937, in Calumet. He was a farmer and had worked for the railroad. He was a member of First Christian Church of Calumet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Georgie Crawford; his wife, Audrey; son, Nathan Crawford; brother, Johnny Crawford, and sister, Sybil Penwright.

Barbara Joan Arnold Spencer-Powell

On Jan. 7, 2021, Barbara Spencer-Powell, age 81, died peacefully at the Orange Blossom Villa Assisted Living Facility in West Palm Beach, Florida.

During her long battle with heart disease and dementia, she was sustained by her faith.

Barbara was born Aug. 29, 1939, in El Reno to parents, Don and Libby Arnold, who predeceased her.

She graduated from El Reno High School and from Oklahoma State University. She was an elementary teacher in Olathe, Kansas, until her children were born. Later she worked in the antique business, specializing in Asian art.

Graveside services for Laverna M. Herbert were held Tuesday at Pleasant View Cemetery in Union City with Rev. Dick Kurtz officiating. Services were under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Laverna died April 29, 2022, at her home in El Reno. She was born Sept. 3, 1924, in El Reno. She was a lifelong resident of the community and a member of First Baptist Church where she volunteered in the nursery. She was a homemaker and worked with her mother at the Dairy Hut for several years.

Funeral services for Howard E. Miller, 84, of El Reno were held Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Shane Carrington, minister of the Southside Church of Christ in Sulphur Springs, Texas, officiating. Burial followed in the El Reno Cemetery. 

Howard was born March 23, 1938, in Geary, to Hershel and Maudie (Boyer) Miller. He passed away April 29, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Howard married Cleta Carmichael on Nov. 16, 1957, in the El Reno Courthouse. From this union came their three children, Lisa, Mark and Matthew.

Betty Louise Bourne

Funeral services for Betty Louise (Kreager) Bourne will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, at Wilson Funeral Home, with burial following in the El Reno Cemetery.

Betty was born Sept. 9, 1933, in El Reno to Harry and Elizabeth Kreager. She passed away May 1, 2022, at Clarehouse in Tulsa.

Betty married Robert “Bob” Bourne on June 28, 1953. She and Bob lived in El Reno for most of their lives but spent quite a few years in New Mexico while he worked as a physician’s assistant.

Betty loved her time spent in New Mexico and making small day trips to Durango, Colo.

Funeral services for Guy Eula Kuhlman of Bridgecreek/Blanchard were held Monday at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle, with burial in the Hazel Dell Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home, Minco.

Eula passed away April 27, 2022, at her home. She was born March 14, 1938, in Quail, Texas, and had lived in the Bridgecreek/Blanchard area for the past 30 years. Eula was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church and the Newcastle Nighttime Needlers Quilt Guild.
