Body

Canadian County commissioners are considering the adoption of county building codes. The proposal was discussed at the board’s weekly meeting, but the item was tabled after District 2 Commissioner Lacey Dawson questioned whether the move would be premature.

After receiving guidance from the county’s legal counsel, the first-year commissioner said adopting county building codes is not allowed by state law because Canadian County does not have county planning and zoning.

That’s what he did at last week’s El Reno Now gathering, along with issuing a challenge for El Reno to get more involved in aviation in the area of education.
