The El Reno Community Theatre will turn up the lights Saturday on its new holiday production of “Christmas at the Centre Theatre.”

El Reno police are asking the public for help in finding the person who took money from the Carnegie Library on Nov. 21. Library employees called police after the man allegedly entered the library at 215 E. Wade around 3 p.m. and took the cash from a drawer. He then left the building.

With the rising number of COVID-19 positive test results in Canadian County, officials at the Canadian County Children’s Justice Center sought permission to require the use of masks there. The request is included in a revised contract between the county and the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs.

All-terrain vehicles can be as dangerous as they are fun to ride.  The Oklahoma 4-H Youth Development Program and Oklahoma Farm Bureau have launched a safety course to help children and families learn how to minimize risks associated with ATVs.

Youngsters flocked to Legion Park last weekend for the opening of Lights in Legion Park. The annual event featured pony rides, a petting zoo and Christmas holiday treats. El Reno firefighters and city staff took part in the festive event.  

A longtime board member of the Canadian County Water Authority, along with a veteran former employee, say the authority is being run in a manner that should draw the scrutiny of county commissioners. Jayne Franks has been a member of the authority board for 25 years.

Someone apparently checked out some library equipment without permission. El Reno police said five Google Pixel laptop computers were taken from the Carnegie Library. The theft was discovered Nov. 16 by library staff. The computers were being stored at the library, police said.

El Reno High School cheerleader Caleb Garrett sticks his head out of a weather enclosure to take a bite of chocolate from Ainslee Bailey during halftime of the Indians playoff football game with McAlester. Temperatures were in the low 40s for most of the game.

Construction on the new Canadian County Fairgrounds is moving along. The more than $15 million complex is being built just north of Jensen Road and east of U.S. 81. The fairgrounds is expected to be complete by summer of 2021 and in time to host the Canadian County Free Fair.
