Population gains to generate new state Senate seat

Body

Population gains in Canadian County will mean the creation of a new Senate seat and El Reno could be on the verge of gaining more of a voice in House races.

Sen. Lonnie Paxton said Senate District 18, currently in Wagoner County in eastern Oklahoma, will be moved to the Yukon and Bethany area.

The new seat will give Canadian County an extra voice at the Senate table, Paxton said.

Paxton, R-Tuttle, served as chairman of the Senate Redistricting Committee. After a vote of 46-1 to adopt the redistricting recommendations, Paxton said he is pleased.

Eventually, she had distance learning of her own as an enrollee in Canadian Valley Technology Center’s Accounting and Business Management program.

Distance learning was an option for CV Tech students this year.
