Cole introduces bill to prohibit Russian oil imports

Body

Congressman Tom Cole has introduced the “Prohibition on Imports of Russian Oil Act,” which would immediately cease all imports of Russian oil and other petroleum products to the U.S.

Cole is a member of the House Energy Action Team and believes suspending oil imports from Russia is a key sanction against Russia that hasn’t been used yet. Many countries have leveled sanctions at Russia for its invasion and attack in Ukraine.

The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence has announced the winners of its 2022 Oklahoma Medal for Excellence Awards honoring outstanding educators in Oklahoma’s public schools.

The awards will be presented at the foundation’s 36th Academic Awards Celebration on May 21 at the Omni Oklahoma City Hotel. Each of the five winners will receive a $5,000 cash prize.

Former wastewater plant manager given probation, hefty fine

A former project manager at El Reno’s wastewater treatment plant has been sentenced to two years of federal probation and a $10,000 fine after pleading guilty to violating the Clean Water Act.

U.S. District Judge Charles Goodwin rendered the sentence against Kenneth Fulton, now of Bartlesville, Feb. 22 in a case that was filed in March 2021 in the Western District of Oklahoma.

The maximum sentence Goodwin could have assessed against Fulton was up to two years in prison, a year of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
