Shunned for another year by the famed Geary Invitational, El Reno High School’s wrestling team joined a list of teams to head south over the weekend for the 2020 Pauls Valley Invitational.

“They told me that we would be notified if they had any openings. I haven’t heard anything from them so I just left it at that,” said El Reno head coach Tyrone Lewis of getting passed over by Geary.

Yet the Indians came close.

Guthrie made 7-of-8 free-throw attempts in the final two minutes as the 19th-ranked (5A) Bluejays held off a feverish rally by El Reno for a 61-60 victory inside Jenks Simmons Field House.
