Sharp leads ER girls with top 10 finishes

A two-tournament swing over four days netted El Reno High School’s girls wrestling team four top 10 finishes, two of those from Bentley Sharp.

Sharp (235) took the silver in the 2026 Putnam City North Panthers Classic with a 1-1 record. She scored a 2:32 fall over Shawnee’s Zaleah Neugent.

In the same event, Lilie Arrasmith (145) went 1-2 to place fourth, posting a 53-second fall over U.S. Grant’s Amari Crayton.

Seeley Chronister (140) went 1-1 with a 9-4 win over Locust Grove’s Aspyn Bates.

Redlands downs SSC for third straight Region 2 win

Continuing to narrow the gap on the league leaders, Redlands Community College women’s basketball team outscored Seminole State 43-17 in the second half en route to an 81-46 win over the Belles.

With its third straight victory, Redlands improves to 18-4 on the season.

More importantly, the Cougars are now 5-3 in the NJCAA Region 2 standings, which is still fourth, but now are a game and a half out of third and two back of first place.

Haven Joseph posted a double-double line of 22 points, 15 rebounds and a steal to pace Redlands.

Cougars drop 30-point bid

Body

Dropping its second worst contest in league play, Redlands Community College men’s basketball team suffered a 95-65 setback to Seminole State College.

The loss leaves the Cougars with a 9-13 overall mark and a 3-5 record in the NJCAA Region 2 standings.

Redlands remains tied for seventh in the standings at 3-5.

Only two players reached double digits for Redlands as Justice Johnson had a line of 13 points, eight boards and two steals.

Damond Matthews had 13 points, five assists and four boards.

ER girls bid for third one game closer

A scoring burst over the final four minutes of the third period helped move El Reno High School’s girls basketball team to within a win of locking up third place in the District 5A-2 standings.

El Reno retained the third spot with a 52-42 win over Noble and swept the season series with the Bears.

The Indians are 7-3 in District 5A-2 play with four games remaining.

The 10-point win lifted El Reno to 10-8 overall and marked the ninth straight year for the Indians to reach 10 wins under head coach Jennifer Douglas.

Short-handed Indians rally but fall short

Despite missing three starters, losing a fourth at half, committing 22 turnovers and shooting 26 percent in the first half, El Reno High School’s boys basketball team had chances to beat Noble.

Down by double digits to start the final period, El Reno trimmed that deficit to single digits twice before suffering a 60-47 league loss and dropping the season series to the Bears.

The loss keeps El Reno in the fifth spot in the District 5A-2 standings at 3-7. The Indians are now 6-12 on the year heading into the final five games of the regular season.

RCC women down NOC Enid

Myracle Washington led a trio of scorers to reach double digits as Redlands Community College women’s basketball team defeated Northern Oklahoma College of Enid 67-61.

Washington was 5-of-8 shooting from the floor and made 4-of-6 free-throw attempts to close with 14 points.

The guard added four rebounds and a steal.

Alaura Pruitt knocked down a trio of 3-pointers to highlight her line of 13 points, five rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals.

Karlee Harviston added 11 points and three rebounds.

Cougars earn first R2 road win

Body

Redlands Community College men’s basketball team earned its first regional road win of the season, defeating Northern Oklahoma College of Enid 85-78.

The seven-point victory came after RCC held off the Jets 44-43 in the second half after leading 41-35 at the break.

Redlands shot 31-of-65 (48 percent) from the floor which included seven made 3-pointers off a 41 percent effort.

Justice Johnson and Jayden Forrest led the arc scoring with three makes each and Damond Matthews with one.

Wrestling for a state berth

El Reno was slated to host the District 5A-3 Championships on Thursday.

The Indians will wrestle Blanchard, Carl Albert and Santa Fe South and need to win all three to punch a ticket to the Class 5A Dual State Championships in Tulsa in February.
