RCC women take first step in Region 2 play with victory

Sporting its fourth highest point total of the season, Redlands Community College women’s basketball team kicked off NJCAA Region 2 play with an 87-61 road win over Eastern Oklahoma State College. The Cougars improved to 8-4 on the season.

Redlands scored double digits from the free-throw line with a 14-of-20 mark for 70 percent and 29-of-68 overall from the floor.

The Cougars netted a staggering 15 3-pointers in the blowout off 44 percent shooting, led by Ellie Willard with six treys and four treys by Calumet native Allie Harris.

Cougars move win streak to eight against Eastern

Redlands Community College men’s basketball team extended its current win streak to eight games last week with a 77-58 road victory over Eastern Oklahoma State College.

The Cougars moved to 13-2 overall and 1-0 in the NJCAA Region 2 standings.

Redlands was 33-of-85 (39 percent) from the floor including a 4-of-21 (19 percent) effort from the 3-point arc.

The Cougars made 30-of-64 shots from inside the perimeter for 46 percent and 5-of-9 (56 percent) from the free-throw line.

Justice Johnson led all scorers with a line of 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

A memorial service for Kenneth Wilson Posey will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at First Baptist Church of El Reno with Pastor Grant Findley officiating. Services are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Ken died Jan. 14, 2025, at his home in El Reno. He was born in Ardmore, Okla., on Aug. 18, 1941, to Mickey and Louise (Wilson) Posey. He earned a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master of Education Administration Degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Sandra L. Stuart

Sandra was born May 7, 1940, to Cleo and Sarah Leona (Stretch) Heitzman in Wichita, Kan.

She grew up in El Reno, where she graduated from El Reno High School. Then came the love of her life, Donald L. Stuart.

Together they had a love that lasted until his final resting day on July 30, 2016. Along with this love story, Sandra gained three stepdaughters, April Jones of El Reno, Deanna Cain of El Reno and Tammie Parker of Sheridan, Wyo. Sandra is survived by her one and only daughter, Darla Cline.
