El Reno High School’s boys wrestling team snapped a three-match losing streak last week as the Indians pulled out a 39-34 road win over Class 4A’s 15th-ranked Weatherford.
The Indians, ranked 13th in Class 5A, improved to 2-3 in duel matches following two losses earlier in the week. El Reno fell to Class 4A’s top-ranked Tuttle (70-6) and Class 5A’s eighth-ranked Guthrie (48-20).
El Reno won seven matches against Weatherford including a 16-1 technical fall by Coleman Iker (190). Diesel Baker (126) turned a 9-0 lead over Dakota Nichols into a fall as did Matthew Snyder (136).
Nearing a full-strength roster, El Reno High School’s girls wrestling team moved to 4-0 on the season with a triangular sweep against Guthrie and Tuttle.
El Reno, ranked No.7 in the state in Class 6A, defeated Guthrie 66-12 and edged out the Tigers in a see-saw battle by a 42-38 margin.
In the victory over the Bluejays, El Reno picked up forfeit wins from Zoey Prestridge (100), Remy Whitney (105), Elana Bowser (115), Emma Resendiz (190) and Patricia Hall (235).
Lila Winegeart buried a 3-pointer en route to a team-high 13 points as Calumet High School’s girls basketball team jumped back into the win column with a 38-22 victory over Gracemont.
The Chieftains improved to 4-9 overall with the 16-point win.
Adelyn Davis and Alice Park scored nine points each, followed by Brenlee Voss with four points and three points from Peyton Watson.
