Hayes goals fuel road win over Del City in 5A-2 clash

El Reno High School’s girls soccer team snapped a three-match losing streak and climbed back into the District 5A-1 playoff picture with a 3-0 road win over Del City.

The Indians moved to 3-5 on the season with their third shutout victory. The win lifted El Reno to 1-1 in the district standings, tied with Guymon and Classen SAS for third place.

Lily Hayes sparked the offense with eight shots, four of those on frame, leading to a team-high two goals. Naomi Solis had the other goal off one of two shots, while Grisell Guzman and Haven Fleenor logged an assist each.

El Reno singles players MaeKenna Wyrick and Sergio Rosas combined to win 31 games over eight matches in the 2026 Guthrie Invitational.

The fields for both boys and girls were full of returning state qualifiers as the El Reno teams won a combined 71 games and each finished in 10th place.

Jacob Richey won nine games at No.2 singles, while the Indians No.2 doubles team of Kale Overholser and Kyler Graham won seven games.

In girls action, McKenzie Smith played No.2 singles, followed by the No.1 doubles team of Cali Mayo and Emma Resendiz, who won 12 games.

El Reno linksters place in 5A Regional Preview

Getting an early look at the other course on tap to host a playoff event, El Reno High School’s golf teams posted a pair of top 10 finishes at the Class 5A Regional Preview.

Playing at the Oak Hills Country Club Course in Ada, which will host one of two regional tourneys later this month, the El Reno boys took sixth place with a round of 355 after posting no nine-hole score in the 50s for any of its five golfers.

Redlands Community College’s baseball team tuned up for a key weekend series in NJCAA Region 2, Division 2 play by dropping an 11-5 non-conference home game to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

The loss to the Golden Norsemen, who play out of NJCAA Region 2, Division 1, left the Cougars with a 15-26 overall record.

Redlands was coming off a split with Northern Oklahoma College of Enid, losing to the Jets at home (11-1/17-5) but sweeping the road set by scores of 15-8 and 8-5.
