El Reno defeats Western Heights on first-half goal

El Reno High School’s boys soccer team stayed in the hunt for a spot in the Class 5A playoffs by making a first-half goal stand up with solid defense in a 1-0 victory over Western Heights.

The Indians snapped a three-match losing streak with the win over the Jets and improved to 4-6 overall. El Reno moved to 1-3 in the District 5A-2 standings and alone in seventh place.

“They played well. We missed a few chances to score some more,” said El Reno head coach Joe Patton.

El Reno High School’s girls golf team, ranked third in Class 5A, continued a recent string of top 10 finishes by taking fourth at the 2025 Tecumseh Invitational.

El Reno carded a 346 and was the highest 5A team ahead of Ada, Durant and Shawnee.

Stillwater (297) and Norman North (312) out of Class 6A were first and second, respectively, while Class 4A’s second-ranked Perkins-Tryon was third with a 338.

Pearson takes 5th in Suburban fi eld

In just his second tournament of the spring, El Reno High School junior Baylor Pearson grabbed All-Suburban Conference honors with a fifth-place individual effort at the 2025 Suburban Conference Boys Golf Championship.

The conference race was blended inside the 2025 Carl Albert Invitational in which El Reno placed 15th as a team with a 350.

The Indians were fourth among league schools behind the Titans (321), Guthrie (331) and Noble (340).

Chieftains errors costly, UC batter hits for cycle

Six errors and nine walks kept Calumet High School’s baseball team from sweeping its regular-season series with Class A power Okarche as the Warriors garnered a split with an 11-0 road win.

Calumet, ranked No.2 in Class B, slipped to 8-6-1 overall. The Chieftains did win three of their last five games, losing to Class 5A power Duncan (11-10) and Okarche.

The wins were over Washington (1-0) and Duncan JV (20-15) in the DHS tourney and a 16-1 run-rule of Lomega.
