Miller leads trio earning all-conference honors

Freshman Radley Miller placed fourth as an individual medalist to pace El Reno High School’s girls golf team to a third-place finish at the 2025 Carl Albert Invitational.

Class 5A’s top-ranked Carl Albert won the team title with a 324, while No. 7 Lawton MacArthur carded a 357 and third-ranked El Reno a 358. Bixby (369) and Oklahoma Christian School (370) rounded out the top five.

The event also served as the 2025 Suburban Conference Championships, with the Titans grabbing the team title and El Reno as runner-up. Guthrie (375) placed third.

Indians battle elements, place 10th in Tuttle bid

Wind and tricky greens on the south course at Earlywine took its toll on El Reno High School’s boys golf team, which placed 10th at the 2025 Tuttle Tigers Invitational.

El Reno carded a 350 - the third best score among Class 5A teams entered - but left the Indians 54 strokes behind winner Crossings Christian (296) and 24 shots out of the top five.

Baylor Pearson led the team for a second straight tourney with an 82 to place the junior in a tie for 22nd in the individual medalist chase.

Jacen Bear shot an 83, which left him in a tie for 26th.

Alpha Kent

Funeral services for Alpha Marie Kent will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22 at Huber-Benson Funeral Home, with burial following at Concho Cemetery.

Alpha died April 15, 2025, at her home in Oklahoma City.

She was born April 17, 1939, in Pawnee. She worked in home health as a caregiver.

She is survived by her son, Edgar Kent Jr. of Oklahoma City; brother, James Stoneroad of California; and one grandchild.

Judy Preston

Services for Judy A. Preston were held Monday, April 21 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Keneda and Rev. Allen Carson officiating. Burial followed in the El Reno Cemetery, under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Judy went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 15, 2025, at her home in El Reno.

She was born Dec. 6, 1942, in Little Rock, Ark., to James “J.E.” and Charlotte (Martin) Wells. Her family relocated to El Reno when Judy was in junior high school.
