Redlands wins district title

OKLAHOMA CITY – After waiting out the at-large bid process the last two seasons to get passes to the NJCAA Women’s National Golf Championships, Redlands Community College punched its ticket outright.

Playing the North layout at the Lake Hefner Golf Course, Redlands won the 2025 NJCAA Central District Women's Golf Championship by three strokes over Texas-based Blinn College.

“They wanted to win and they were out there fighting for it. They stayed mentally tough and proved they wanted it,” said RCC head coach Taylor Sliauter.

Etta Louise Sanders Nelson, born on June 6, 1953, passed away April 25, 2025. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose life was a testament to love, faith and service.

Etta was the daughter of Dolores Marquez Sanders Alvarado (Tomas) and Herbert Lee Sanders Jr. (in Memoriam). 

She is survived by her brother, Herbert L. Sanders III, and sister, Jessie Marie Sanders Ford (Larry, in Memoriam), as well as her husband, Delvin Nelson Sr., whom she married on Oct. 28, 1972.

James Williams Jr.

James “Jim” Allan Williams Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, at age 84. He was born Dec. 26, 1940, in El Reno to James Allan and Vivian Williams.

Jim graduated from El Reno High School and then went on to pursue an education at Oklahoma State University. Jim began his first job at age 7 at his family’s feed mills. He enjoyed working at this young age, which established his work ethic. He joined his father in the electrical business, and later started his own company, Northwest Electric, in Oklahoma City. He wired commercial and residential properties.
