Commissioners begin search for new property to be used for parking

Body

With construction starting this fall on a new Canadian County Courthouse, there eventually will be a need for more parking.

As such, commissioners this week authorized chairman Tom Manske to pursue and negotiate an agreement to acquire more property.

Commissioners met in executive session at their Aug. 4 regular meeting to discuss the purchase of real properties for use as parking for the new courthouse.

“The agreement will have to be approved by the Board of County Commissioners at a future date,” Manske said.

The Indians went through a three-hour nonpadded drill.

According to Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association rules, teams must have three days of non-padded drills before hosting full-contact padded drills. El Reno's first practice in pads will be Thursday.

Michalicka: Indians ‘good to go’ after rocky preseason

Body

Those on the outside might think El Reno High School head softball coach Bri Michalicka is hitting the panic button after her Indians closed out their preseason run with a 2-4-1 record.

In fact, it’s just the opposite.

“We’ve seen everything we need to see, and I don’t look at those games as losses at all. We gained a lot of knowledge and I feel really good about going into the season,” said Michalicka.

Entering her second year, Michalicka had a pre-set rotation for most of the preseason, with the majority of players switching every two innings to different positions.
