Redlands Community College officially dedicated The Spirit of Redlands Mural as faculty, students, city leaders and the business community joined to celebrate the massive work of art.

Redlands President Dr. Jena Marr, Ph.D, welcomed those gathering for the Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Highway 81 resurface project causing confusion

El Reno Mayor Steve Jensen warned Tuesday night that the southbound off ramp on I-40 at U.S. 81 was a dangerous situation with construction starting there.

By Wednesday morning, Jensen’s statement was rather prophetic as a two-vehicle accident occurred at the location. 

ODOT has begun making improvements to 81 south from I-40 to Jensen Road.

After the accident, ODOT and El Reno police provided more direction and security for the area.

Fire Chief Jason Duff said one person was taken from the scene by ambulance, but the extent of injuries was not known.

Bids opened for county D-3 shop

The Canadian County commissioners meeting was filled this week with vendors interested in helping build a new District 3 shop building.

Commissioners opened 22 bids submitted by 18 companies for the project planned at the District 3 yard, 1205 N. Calumet Road. The current District 3 shop was constructed in 1956.

“Thank you for taking the time to bid on this new facility,” District 3 Commissioner Tracey Rider said.

Premium Aerospace Center Oklahoma LLC (PAC) has secured a strategic long-term lease with the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority (OSIDA) to expand into a 130,000-square-foot hangar.

The partnership promises 40 years of aerospace commerce, positioning western Oklahoma at the forefront of the next era in space exploration and establishing key aerospace operations including maintenance, repair and operations (MRO).
