Piedmont holds off feverish rally in final four minutes to edge El Reno boys 61-57

Body

PIEDMONT – During the first and final four minutes of last week’s game with No.8 Piedmont, El Reno High School’s boys basketball team was literally unstoppable - outscoring the eighth-ranked Wildcats 26-8 in their top 10 showdown.

However, hiccups on both ends of the floor over the other 24 minutes left Class 5A’s ninth-ranked Indians struggling to gain their footing. Put the minutes together and the Wildcats clawed out a narrow 61-57 win over El Reno.

PIEDMONT – On the defensive side of the floor, Class 5A’s fourth-ranked El Reno High School’s girls basketball team held Piedmont to its third lowest scoring total of the season.

The only problem - the top-ranked Wildcats did the same to the Indians.

El Reno was held to a season-low 36 points in a 51-36 setback to the defending 5A state champions.

Wreaths across America

Body

On Sunday, it was cold, gray and solemn. The lack of sunlight made for a dreary-looking day. But that didn’t matter to the people at Fort Reno.

What mattered was they were there to honor the fallen, the brave soldiers of the United States military.

The historic fort was one of the locations for Wreaths Across America, a tradition kept all over the country since 2007 (but in a smaller capacity since 1992).

The tradition is a ceremony honoring the military, with Christmas wreaths laid on the graves of soldiers.
