El Reno drops pair to Guymon

El Reno High School’s softball team, the No.2 seed, staved off two elimination games last week in the Class 5A, Region 4 Championships before falling in the title round to Guymon.

The Indians went 2-2 in the playoffs, losing both games to the Tigers by scores of 7-2 and 4-0. El Reno, which closed the season with a 15-22 record, was held to eight total hits in 14 innings against Guymon, the No.1 seed.

“Everyone in our regional was good and it was anyone’s game. We fell a little short and everything went right for Guymon,” said El Reno head coach Kylee Webb.

Atchison: Time for Indians to take the next step

On the back of El Reno High School’s football helmets for the 2020 season are the words “Take the next step,” which according to head coach Chuck Atchison, comes Thursday night.

El Reno travels down U.S. 81 to take on Duncan in a game which now has district title implications for both teams.

“This game for Duncan, if they win, means the district title. After us they have Capitol Hill, Southeast and Altus and they will win all three of those games if they get played.

Graveside services for Harvey Ardell (Dell) Hornbuckle of Minco will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Springcreek Cemetery in Minco, under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Harvey passed away Oct. 7, 2020, at Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon. He was born Feb. 6, 1938, in Gassville, Ark.

Harvey served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was employed as an electrician for Western Farmers Power in Anadarko and later became manager until his retirement. He moved to Minco in 1975.
