County offices hold holiday coat, toy drive

The Canadian County Bar Association and Court Clerk’s Office held a coat and toy drive for the annual Red Andrews Christmas Dinner held in Oklahoma City.

Since 1947, the Christmas Day tradition provides warm meals and toys to approximately 7,000 people each year at the Cox Convention Center.

The Canadian County Bar Association and its members, who are judges and lawyers that practice law in the county, contributed $1,665 toward the event.

Due to COVID-19 and concerns for the safety of the community, there will be no inside dining this year.

Knights help with local efforts

Body

The Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council 767 of El Reno host fundraisers throughout the year, often cooking and selling fried catfish, bratwurst, fried onion burgers and smoked ribs for the community to enjoy and to help with local causes.

Because of COVID, the Knights did their cooking fundraisers this past year outdoors with curb-side food to go.

Last week, the Knights donated to El Reno Blessing Baskets to help support the approximately 1,000 children involved in the Christmas Gift Basket Program.
