Jumping back into the win column, El Reno High School’s girls basketball team got the first win on its current six-game road swing with a 43-37 victory over the Duncan Demons.
The non-conference win moved El Reno, ranked seventh in Class 5A, to 6-3 on the season heading into this weekend’s Shawnee Invitational.
El Reno outscored the Demons in three of the four periods, leading 10-7 after one frame, 20-12 at the half and 33-24 going into the fourth. Duncan trimmed three points off the deficit behind a 13-10 scoring edge over the final eight minutes.
Fueled by a 15-point scoring edge in the third period, El Reno High School’s boys basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 65-35 win over Duncan.
The non-conference victory lifted the Indians, down several spots in the latest Class 5A poll to 13th, to 5-4 on the season heading into weekend play in the Shawnee Invitational.
“We made a big shot at the end of the second quarter and then came out in the second half and had that big run. We created turnovers that led to some easy baskets,” said El Reno head coach Rodney Haydon.
