Paxton files election protection measure in Senate

Following one of the most controversial and debated elections in U.S. history, Sen. Lonnie Paxton, R-Tuttle, has filed legislation to ensure the continued integrity of Oklahoma’s election system.

Senate Bill 523 would prohibit any political subdivision, agency or government official from entering into a legal agreement or court settlement prescribing election procedures that conflict with election law, which is both statutorily and constitutionally set by the Legislature. 

State Chamber supports two new student transfer bills

OKLAHOMA CITY - Two bills which create ways students could more easily transfer to a public school to meet their educational needs have the attention of the State Chamber of Oklahoma.

The business-focused organization is endorsing the bills written by Rep. Jon Echols and Sen. Adam Pugh.

House Bill 2673 and Senate Bill 783 create a method for students to transfer to another public school with the state dollars following that student.

Couple marries in El Reno ceremony

Lindsay Marie (Elliott) Hart and Brandon Lance Arnold were united in marriage Oct. 2 at Party Haven Event Center in El Reno with Matt Miller, uncle of the bride officiating.

The couple exchanged traditional vows as well as their own under a hexagon-shaped arbor made by the bride’s grandfather.

The bride is the daughter of Wayne and Lisa Elliott and granddaughter of Howard E. Miller and the late Cleta F. Miller and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Elliott, all of El Reno. The groom is the son of Debra Arnold of Norman.
