El Reno High School’s baseball team had a two-game win streak snapped last week with a 10-2 loss at Elk City.

The Indians slipped to 12-10 on the season in the rematch loss to the Elks, splitting games for the season.

El Reno batted .263 from the plate, going 5-of-19 with one walk versus five strikeouts. Brayden Fulton had one of the five hits in the loss, adding a walk and a run scored.

Kolton Hunt (.333) singled as did Ryan Island (.500) and Boston Ellison (.333). Palmer Ellis (.500) had the lone extra base hit with a double to drive in a run.

Harding hands ER 4-1 loss

Still looking for its first dual win of the season, El Reno High School’s tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to Harding Charter Prep last week at the Legion Park courts.

El Reno slipped to 0-2 on the season.

The lone win was by the No.1 girls doubles team of Riley Connor and Kenzie Holsted, who posted a 6-0/3-6/6-1 win over Tory Nguyen and Emma Klover.

El Reno’s No.2 doubles team of Brianna Barksdale and Ida Terkildsen dropped a 6-3/6-0 match to Tracy Nguyen and Lily Boevers.

Union City, Calumet post weekend victories

Both of the county’s ranked small school baseball teams had successful weekend action, including a runner-up finish by Union City in the Moss Pirates Invitational.

The Tigers, ranked 14th in Class A, defeated Maud (16-4) and Earlsboro (17-4) but fell to the Class B 12th-ranked Pirates 8-3 in the title game. Union City improved to 15-5 on the season.

Union City bats combined to go 25-of-63 from the plate for a .397 average with 11 extra base hits. The Tigers drew 30 walks against 22 strikeouts.

El Reno rallies over Capitol Hill

Surviving a first-half score from Capitol Hill, El Reno High School’s girls soccer team remained undefeated in District 5A-1 play last week with a 2-1 win over the Red Wolves.

El Reno, ranked third in the district, improved to 7-3 on the season and 3-0 in the 5A-1 standings. Only the Indians and Bishop McGuinness remain undefeated in league action.

The Red Wolves led El Reno 1-0 at the half after the Indians missed scoring chances off three goalie saves, two wide shots, a pair of corner kicks and a high shot on frame.
