El Reno was back on the track recently with thinclads competing in two meets within a 24-hour period, including the tough Carl Albert Invitational.

Before the trip to Midwest City, El Reno took part in the Bridge Creek Invitational, with the girls getting a silver-medal finish from thrower Ochien Gross. She popped off a shot-put toss of 30 feet, 10.5 inches.

On the track, Gracie Wieland had the best finish in the 200-meter dash in 25th place, crossing the line in 31.09 seconds. Aleilah Big Eagle Hill (34.66) was 43rd and Kylie Randall (35.87) earned 44th.

It was a full house at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center last week as El Reno High School’s girls tennis team took on stacked brackets in the 2021 Guthrie Invitational.

El Reno’s four entries in the event all placed out of the top 10, but all earned at least one victory in four matches each.

Union City hits homers in loss; CHS drops games

Despite hitting two home runs in the seventh inning to tie the score, Union City High School’s slow-pitch softball team dropped an 11-10 game to Okarche last week.

The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Tigers which included victories over Verden (11-2), Carnegie (14-6) and Harding Charter (20-1). Union City is now 16-10 on the year.

The Tigers got a two-run homer from Kylie McCoy to close to within a run of Okarche, then tied the score on a solo home run by Alexis Archer. Union City had three homers in the game, the other from MacKinzie DeLong.

Calumet fizzles Comets; Tigers blanked by Okarche

Extending its current win streak to three games, Calumet High’s baseball team defeated Hinton 11-3 last week.

The win was the sixth out of the last seven games for the Chieftains, ranked No.16 in Class A, who improved to 13-4 on the season.

Calumet scored six runs in the first inning off three hit batsmen, two walks and a pair of singles from Kaleb Melvin. Caleb Meschberger and Hunter Navanick added a base hit each.
