Proposed city budget flat

Body

El Reno’s proposed city budget for the coming fiscal year will be in a word, flat.

City Manager Matt Sandidge will present the proposed Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget to the city council during a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

“The future is bright for El Reno with new infrastructure, parks improvements, housing and businesses. However, before we discuss the future, we need to review this past fiscal year,” Sandidge wrote in a letter to members of the city council.

He said the past year has “contained uncertainties, challenges and natural disasters.”

Burger Day limited but filled with fun

Body

It wasn’t your typical Burger Day, but it was outdoors, it had some cornhole and it was fun.

That was the thinking after El Reno celebrated the famous fried onion hamburger after a year hiatus.

Main Street Director Shana Ford said the day went off well with the inaugural cornhole tournament attracting 47 two-person teams. The winning team featured a 14-year-old cornhole whiz in Isabelle Surprenant of Enid and her partner, Mark Bitner.
