Suit filed in death of inmate

The husband of a Canadian County Jail inmate who died in custody is suing the county commissioners, sheriff, jail administrator and the jail’s medical provider.

Lesley Sara Hendrix, 27, died Oct. 12, 2020, at a hospital after suffering from a flesh-eating disorder called necrotizing fasciitis. She had been an inmate since January 2016 at the Canadian County Jail.

Hendrix was charged in Canadian County District Court in the death of a 23-month-old toddler she had been baby-sitting in November 2015.

El Reno BID meeting held downtown

Dan Galloway said he and his wife visited downtown Stillwater in 1992. That was before he became city manager for the Payne County municipality.

“There were maybe three stores open,” Galloway said.

He was talking last week to about a dozen people who had gathered in the Centre Theatre in downtown El Reno. They were there to hear and discuss the possibilities of creating a Business Improvement District for the downtown.

Police arrest El Reno man toting machete, bag of meth

An El Reno man was taken into custody after police reportedly found him hiding in bushes in the 600 block of North Bickford, allegedly with a large machete and a bag of meth.

Reports said Quentel Eugene Perkins, 36, was arrested just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 14. Police had been called to the area on North Bickford after receiving reports that a man carrying a light was seen walking in the area.

In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic forced students at Redlands Community College to switch to online learning, Zoom and other group communications technology became a part of daily life.

For students, learning the ins and outs of Zoom was hard enough, but Professor of Communications Elise McCauley Row soon discovered even professional adults were making critical mistakes and goofy errors when engaging with others on such platforms.
