El Reno returns to gridiron action in loss

Body

NOBLE – After a three week hiatus and two periods of near misses, El Reno High School's football team finally found its offensive groove in the second half of its District 5A-1 opener against Noble.

Unfortunately, so did the Bears.

Noble, holding a slim 7-0 halftime lead, outscored El Reno 39-21 over the final two periods en route to a 46-21 win.

The loss dropped El Reno to 0-2 on the season while Noble improved to 3-1. The game was the Indians first since August 27 due to a two-week COVID-19 lock down and a open week.

Cavalry returns

Body

The sounds of charging horses, rattling sabers and pistols firing returned to the parade grounds at Historic Fort Reno Wednesday as the 2021 U.S. Cavalry Association's Bivouac and National Competition returned.

The four-day event runs through Saturday, with daily events starting at 9 a.m.

“It’s good to be back,” said U.S. Cavalry Association President Bill Tempero.

The event was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first time the competition was not held since the association moved its national headquarters to Fort Reno.
