El Reno’s municipal government will continue to operate with a “flat budget.” That was the message members of the city council heard last week when they gathered for a special meeting focusing on the upcoming fiscal year. 

The situation is similar to what the city has been working with for the past few years, said City Manager Matt Sandidge. 

Even with the projected lack of revenue growth, council also was told a number of projects will continue moving forward and plans are being made for more capital improvements when funds allow.

El Reno’s 38th Annual Burger Day Festival, hosted by the Historic Downtown El Reno Foundation, was greeted by record numbers for the Bun Run, car show, and to watch the cooking of the world’s largest fried onion burger, which tops 850 pounds.

There was live music, food vendors, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, pony rides, inflatables, youth entrepreneur booths and a cultural exhibit presented by the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes.

Nearly 10 years after a young man vanished during a hiking trip to look for an abandoned silver mine near Lake Tenkiller, new forensic evidence has led to the refiling of murder charges against three men who previously confessed to their involvement in his death.

Authorities announced April 29 that new arrest warrants have been issued for Michael Snelling, 32, of Webbers Falls, Tyler Leverett, 32, of Webbers Falls, and Charles Shamblin, 35, of Alamose, Colo., in connection with the 2016 killing of Matthew Scott Fagan.

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State University welcomed experts from across the beef supply chain to campus for the inaugural Beef Center of Excellence Advisory Board meeting.

The Beef Center of Excellence is a cross-disciplinary effort to drive innovation, sustainability and profitability for cattle producers.

“We’re just getting started, but I hope the advisory board can come together and bring real ideas for change in the beef industry,” said Ben Hale of Western Livestock Auctions.
