Canadian County District 1 personnel are working with municipalities to improve roads this summer.

From May to July, county crews will have repaired and assisted with roads in Piedmont, Okarche and Calumet.

“A lot of people don’t know that a road can have parts of it that are owned by the city and other parts owned by the county,” said Canadian County District 1 Commissioner Tom Manske.

JKM a key to growth for nine decades

Body

If it truly takes a village to help raise a child, as the saying goes, then it stands to reason, it must take a family-owned business to help build a community.

Celebrating its 90th year in business, JKM, an El Reno family-owned business, might be “Exhibit A” supporting this argument.

In 1933, Moore Jewelry opened in downtown El Reno. That was the year the late Jimmy Moore was born. He and his brothers, Henry and Clyde, would grow up and join their mother and father, Clyde and Margie Moore, in operating the business that would later transform into JKM.

Czech benefit set

Body

Cultures and friendships drive Kyle Dillingham, master fiddler and violinist, which is why it is unsurprising that as Dillingham was fresh off the tarmac, he agreed to play at the Czech Hall, 205 N. Czech Hall Road in Yukon, on Thursday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Dillingham and his band, Horseshoe Road, return to their Czech roots as they look to support that cultural and social center.
