The city of El Reno will make changes to public accessibility of city buildings and city operating procedures.

As of last Friday, there were no confirmed cases in El Reno but that is expected to change.

The city of El Reno will follow the CDC guidelines and directions from Gov. Stitt regarding the shutdown of restaurants, bars, etc.

It is recommended people maintain 6-feet social distancing and limit 10 or less people in any area at one time.

To ease the economic pain, the Golden Arches are making sure kids get a free meal. From March 23-27, El Reno McDonald’s will provide free dinners to kids ages 14 and younger, no questions asked. The idea came from Brian LaPat, owner and operator.

This special meal is available at the drive-thru from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The dinner includes buttermilk chicken tenders, apple juice, apple slices and a cookie.

Kansas closed schools last week for the remainder of the 2019-20 term due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Administrators in Oklahoma are expected to do the same.

On Monday, State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister released details of her plan for schools to provide distance learning to students and shutter buildings for the rest of the year. Schools were earlier scheduled to reopen April 6.
