Another pro-life American has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of violating a federal crime that for years went largely ignored by authorities. 

Bevelyn Beatty Williams, a 33-year-old mother of a 2-year-old daughter, received a 41-month sentence for taking part in a protest outside an abortion clinic. Williams was charged with violating the FACE Act, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. Williams faces an additional charge of violating the FACE Act through force, which carries up to 10 years.

A Canadian County man faces the death penalty or life in prison for allegedly shooting to death another local man during a street fight in a neighborhood between Yukon and Piedmont.

Ramari Zaishawn Boone-Haye, 21, was charged July 23 in Canadian County District Court with first-degree murder (deliberate intent) and two counts of feloniously pointing a firearm.

Oklahoma City police arrested Boone-Haye on July 14 after officers responded to a shooting report near N.W. 96th and North Mustang Road north of Yukon.

Canadian County lawmen arrested Dusty Treadaway Jr., 43, from Fort Cobb, during an undercover operation to purchase firearms. 

The undercover operation took place at a retail store in Yukon. Sheriff’s investigators used an undercover social media account and learned Treadaway was attempting to sell firearms on social media.

Since Treadaway is a convicted felon, he cannot be in possession of firearms or sell them.

El Reno VFW Post 382 will host a shrimp boil Aug. 9 as a fundraiser for the organization. 

Nancy Salsman with the VFW said the event will feature Canadian County Commissioner Tom Manske serving as auctioneer. 

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with the auction set for 7:45. Advance tickets are $25 and $35 at the door. 

The VFW lost its liquor and sales tax licenses, reportedly after failing to pay back taxes. The organization has been hosting fundraisers to help get the licenses restored. 

Redlands Community College has named Kacey Daniels executive director of Student Services, leading a team dedicated to assisting and advising prospective and current students.

A first-generation college graduate and Redlands alumna, Daniels has been a cornerstone of the Upward Bound program at Redlands Community College, initially joining the program as an education specialist and then serving as the program director for the last seven years.

The deadline to request absentee ballots by mail is approaching. Applications must be received by the Canadian County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12.

County election board secretary Allen Arnold said absentee voting is available to all voters and applications can be submitted several ways. 

“In Oklahoma, no excuse is needed to vote by absentee ballot, and it’s easy to apply. Voters can submit their application online, in-person, by fax, mail or even email,” said Arnold.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Unaccompanied minors who illegally enter the United States are being released to child traffickers by the U.S. government, condemning those youth to a life of forced labor or worse, and a business arm of the Cherokee Nation is facilitating that abuse, according to whistleblower testimony provided this month to members of the U.S. Senate.
