El Reno High School students have researched and written about veterans with local ties who have served this nation over the many years.

Students in Brian Rukes’ AP English 3 class spent weeks pouring through records and finding details about these American veterans, many who gave their lives in the line of duty.

The Tribune is honored to share some of these articles with our readers in today's edition that includes a special tribute to Veterans Day.

Over the coming weeks we will share more of these stories written by hometown students in memory and in honor of these American hometown heroes.

Also this weekend, Canadian County will pay tribute to America’s military veterans with the annual Veterans Parade and Program. The event is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 in downtown El Reno. 

The day will feature the parade as well as performances following in the Centre Theatre, 110 S. Bickford.
