Golf four the generations

Body Maizlynn Steenbergen, who will enter the sixth grade at Banner, won the Lake Hefner Club Championship in the 9-11 age division. The tournament was played July 27-28. Scoring 93, Maizlynn defended her title from last year’s championship.

Lamplighters group holds meeting

Body Lamplighters OHCE of Canadian County met recently at Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Carol Stine called the meeting to order, with Patricia Morrison offering the devotional titled “Joy.” Roll call was answered by members telling their favorite thing to see at the fair.

Local students make SWOSU honor rolls

Body The President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s Honor Roll at Southwestern Oklahoma State University have been announced for the 2023 summer semester. To qualify for the President’s Honor Roll, an undergraduate student must earn all A’s in 12 or more hours during a semester.

Canadian County OHCE selling tickets for quilt raffle

Body The Canadian County Association for Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) is selling tickets for a beautiful quilt size 72x84. Tickets are $1 per ticket or six tickets for $5. The quilt will be raffled off on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 8 p.m.

Outstanding Citizen nominations sought

Body Nominations are being sought for the Outstanding Canadian County Citizen to be recognized at the upcoming Canadian County Free Fair. As is tradition, the individual will receive the first-place winning cookie jar entered in the fair.

Ross paint donation

Body The Heaston Church Youth Group was this year’s recipient of 20 gallons of paint. The paint was provided by Ross Seed Company/True Value and the True Value Foundation.
