The Underwood Oklahoma Home and Community Education Association of Canadian County met recently at a local restaurant. Natalia Valenzuela called the meeting to order, with Bernita Davis reading minutes of the last meeting. Ann Ricketts was elected to serve as the new treasurer.
Valenzuela and Vickie Duncan filled local Blessing Boxes with food items, with members discussing also placing reading materials in the boxes.
Leader lessons were assigned.

El Reno High School’s tennis team closed out its dual season last week by hosting Kingfisher at the Legion Park courts, getting mixed results in both singles and doubles action.
Xiven Wallin played No.1 singles for the EHS boys and lost both of his matches in pro sets by scores of 3-8 and 2-8. Jacob Guerrero dropped both of his No.2 singles matches by scores of 0-8/3-8.
The two then teamed up for doubles, losing 0-8.
For the second time in four days, Mother Nature threw a curve ball at El Reno High School’s baseball team as a steady rain forced a stoppage in play during the Indians District 5A-2 series with Guthrie.
With the score tied at 3-all, El Reno’s Grady Lesperance drew a lead-off walk in the bottom of the fourth inning before play was halted. El Reno head coach Keith Hill said the game will not be restarted since the outcome will not affect the final district outcome.
El Reno High School’s boys soccer team played through the rain recently to defeat Guymon 2-1 in its final match of the regular season.
El Reno will now travel to Oklahoma City to play Santa Fe South in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs, set for Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Union City High School’s slow-pitch softball team fell one win shy of advancing to the regional round, losing 7-2 to Fort Cobb-Broxton in the title game of the Class 2A, District 7 Championship.
The Tigers went 3-2 in the postseason to close out the season with a 21-14 record.
“Our girls put it all on the line. I’m sad the season ended but we left it all on the field,” said head coach Cody Schmidt.
While notching a thrilling win in the postseason, Calumet High School’s slow-pitch softball team had the daunting task of beating top-ranked Binger-Oney twice in order to advance.
The Bobcats had other plans.
Binger-Oney tagged Calumet’s defense for 32 runs en route to 15-0 and 17-1 wins to claim the Class 2A, District 1 Championship.
The Chieftains season ends with a 5-12 record, with Calumet earning a 6-5 playoff win over Sentinel.
Sarah Nitzel hit a walk-off triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Jazmine Mayo – on with a single.
