Body

Two days removed from a season-high point total, El Reno High School’s girls basketball team made the 4.5 hour (one-way) bus ride to Guymon and came away with a 47-36 victory over the Tigers.

The 11-point decision extended El Reno’s current win streak to two games as the Indians move to 5-3 on the season going into the holiday break.

More importantly, it was EHS’ third straight league win, moving the team to 4-1 in the District 5A-2 standings for third place.

El Reno made 15 baskets in the game, four of those 3-pointers, while hitting 13-of-18 (72 percent) free throws.

Holiday helpers

El Reno siblings Shyann and Donnie Taylor jiggled and smiled as they played around in a box full of stuffed animals.

It’s the kind of carefree spirit that kids have during the holiday season and those happy faces and laughter is why Colsen Girty loved Christmas over any holiday.

“He loved Christmas, it was his favorite holiday,” said Colsen’s mother, Whitney Sides.

Colsen had a dream of one day buying a Christmas present for every child in the world. However, that dream was cut short by a 2021 auto accident which claimed the life of the 10-year-old.

Starting Jan. 10, the museum will be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Caldwell opened the museum in early October.

The aviation museum features dozens of aircraft, mostly from what is considered the Golden Age of American aviation, the 1920s through the 1940s.
